The operational problem

A clearer path than circulating roster files.

RosterField is designed to support controlled publication from the Excel workflows teams already use. It helps make the roster being published easier to access for the workforce.

How it works

From Excel to published roster

  1. 01

    Upload your roster

Keep planning in Excel. Choose the project and upload its CSV or XLSX roster.

  2. 02

    Follow the review actions

Open flagged sections, confirm unfamiliar labels and resolve corrections. Refresh the preview and check totals before release.

  3. 03

    Publish the version

Make the reviewed project roster current; workers can find it through the project link or QR code.

The review step, made visible

See what needs attention. Go straight to the fix.

Review actions open the relevant correction section. Unfamiliar daily labels keep their source text unless you replace them; confirm what they mean rather than losing them in an unmapped cell.

Illustration, not an interactive review. The app also shows totals and a collapsible first-100-entry sample in 10-row pages.

Why keep Excel

Keep the planning habits your team already knows.

RosterField is not a forced planning-system replacement. It is focused on the steps that take a roster planned in Excel through mapping, validation, review, and controlled publication.

Published rosters

A roster the workforce can refer to.

RosterField supports a publishing process designed to make the current roster available to the workforce without relying on circulated files.

Data handling

Clear about the role RosterField plays.

The signed-in project app is distinct from the worker-facing roster link. People with a project link can search the published roster by name; only include information suitable for that access model.

View all FAQs
Do we have to stop planning in Excel?

No. Plan in your existing workbook, then upload a CSV or XLSX copy for review and publication. RosterField does not create the shift plan for you.

Which roster layouts can I import?

The app reviews horizontal matrices, transposed matrices and shift lists. Choose the worksheet and confirm field and date locations. Shift lists need employee identifiers; some formats still need correction in Excel.

What happens if an employment number is missing?

Matrix rosters can use physical source identifiers such as ROW-12 or COL-C when an employment number is absent. These identify a position within that upload, not an employee across files. Shift lists require employee identifiers. Check excluded records and names before publishing.

Roster access on a phone

Your published roster, on Android and iPhone.

The mobile viewer is designed for workers to find their own current published roster from a project QR code or existing company and project codes. Planning, importing and publishing still happen in the signed-in web app.
